Fund-raising

The expression “life is full of surprises,” I recently found to be quite true.

Hi my name is Jeannette; I work in the Topanga WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com offices. I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I originally came from the tech world and have been working with WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com for the last few months. It is very exciting to be involved in something so inspiring. Every day seems to bring a new reward.

Yesterday was a perfect example. It was my birthday and I was able to take the day off, only to run into the most magnificent family. My mother and I sat down to have birthday tea and across from us two men with quite a presence were sitting and enjoying tea as well (even if it was ice tea). The men quickly started up a conversation and enough information was exchanged to find out, they too were father and son. Shortly after we began talking a woman joined them and they got down to business.

My mother and I continued our tea. After we ate all of our little sandwiches and had a little birthday treat, we paid the bill, and got up to get on our way. As we got up to leave the two men, who were now with two women, stopped their meeting and formally introduced themselves and the rest of their party to us. Everyone worked with the younger man named Won-g Bruny a rapper, and as predicted, were having a business meeting. I told Won-g quickly that I worked for WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com and gave him an overview of what we do. To both of our shock and surprise he and his family are from Haiti, and were thrilled to hear about our project.

It just goes to show you that life is full of surprises and you never know where the next one is going to come from, so keep your eyes open:)

HELP CHILDREN IN HAITI

Meet Martin

MartinMeet Little Martin. On a routine visit to a hospital we noticed a little disabled boy in one of the hospital cribs. The boy had been left to fend for himself, he had no identification and his birthday is a mystery. He had been in the hospital for a few days and had been severely neglected: his diapers were soiled and he was covered in lice. No one had taken any notice of this little boy in a few days and we were left with no choice but to bring the little boy home. In honor of one the Kay Angel founders we named the boy “Little” Martin.
