Check Out Our New School Bench

Fund-raising, Kids

Lia recently hired a Boss (this is what they call a carpenter/repair-man in Haiti) named Frito for some repairs around the orphanage. While she had access to Frito she decided to see if she could strike a deal with him to build a true school bench for the triplets. They have been working so hard since their new school uniforms that we thought it was time they had a true school bench to attend school in.

Building the Bench

Just like any kids they were outgrowing their small tables and chairs, so the timing could not have been more perfect. After some key negotiating by Lia, she was able to strike a deal with the Boss and construction on a new school bench began. It took 2 days to complete and it had to be tilted over the front balcony, it was to big to fit through the stairs.

School Bench

The girls could not be more thrilled and with materials and labor Lia was able to have the bench built for $67.81! Wow…go Lia.

School is in Session

HELP CHILDREN IN HAITI

Meet Martin

MartinMeet Little Martin. On a routine visit to a hospital we noticed a little disabled boy in one of the hospital cribs. The boy had been left to fend for himself, he had no identification and his birthday is a mystery. He had been in the hospital for a few days and had been severely neglected: his diapers were soiled and he was covered in lice. No one had taken any notice of this little boy in a few days and we were left with no choice but to bring the little boy home. In honor of one the Kay Angel founders we named the boy “Little” Martin.
