Meet Marie Nancy. Nancy was born August 14th, 2007 in Plaisance, Cayes Jacmel. Her mother Lise, was a very young girl with little means to take care of herself much less her baby. Unable to buy formula to keep her daughter alive, Lise was forced to nurse her baby, even though she was knowingly HIV+.

On December 20th, 2007 Lise came to the orphanage pleading with us that we take Nancy since she feared that her daughter would die with out proper care.  Lise was so weak she could barely stand, and we agreed to take in Nancy as well as help Lise with medication and provide her with money for food. When we received Nancy she was starving and half the size of a normal baby her age.

Today Nancy is still extremely small and HIV+, but she has a huge personality. She makes up little tunes that she hums while she plays and when you catch her singing she flashes the biggest smile.
