Well now that you have met our three oldest children it’s time to meet the little ones. Our first little one is Kettia.
Kettia was the second child to come live with us at the orphanage, born on November 19th, 2006 up in the mountains of Macary, Marigot. Her mother passed away from a mysterious illness that was never identified. Unfortunately like many of our children Kettia’s father was not present in her life and she was left in the care of her grandfather.
On October 10th, 2007 Lesly Parcil, director of WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com at the time brought the 11 month old baby to live with us. Kettia is one of the lucky ones, her grandfather tries to come visit her as often as he can, but the mountain road is long and hard to travel. When he is able to visit he always manages to bring us different produce from his garden.
Once Kettia was living with us we soon discovered that she LOVES milk and even though she eats solid foods she cries out for it when she sees the smaller kids drinking milk. When Gala visited the orphanage they decided to take some of the kids to the beach one afternoon and Kettia was one of the kids who joined. They had no idea what kind of sea monster they had on their hands! She splashed and laughed and splashed some more. Kettia always steals the hearts of people who come to visit the orphanage with her pudgy cheeks and huge smile.
