Name: Jesula
In our care: March 27, 2008
Birthday: April 11, 2007
Status: HIV+
Jesula was our 12th child, born on April 11th, 2007 in a north eastern city in Haiti called Ouanaminthe. When she was about nine months old her mother passed away from AIDS and Jesula was left at an orphanage run by Catholic nuns from Colombia. The nuns prayed very hard for Jesula but against their prayers, she tested positive for HIV. Lacking the funds and resources to care for a special needs baby the nuns were at a loss of what to do.
Youseline holding Jesula
This week Youseline, Melinda, and Estania asked us to go to church. From time to time the girls request that we take them to church. So Ambroise gathered the girls in Lia’s car and they were off.
Youseline, Melinda, and Estania
The girls were extremely excited to go, Youseline even carried Ambroise’s bible. A few of our staff goes to the same church so the girls felt right at home. There is nothing like being able to fulfill a request that our children make like this.
Melinda, Youseline, Estania
As many of you may know WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com has been reaching out to other Haitian organizations to see how we can help one another. With that in mind, this week our director Lia took our three oldest girls (Youseline, Melinda, Estania) to the Hands and Feet Project orphanage in Cyvadier.

Name: Nancy
In our care since: December 20, 2007
Birthday: August 14, 2007
Status: HIV positive
Meet Marie Nancy. Nancy was born August 14th, 2007 in Plaisance, Cayes Jacmel. Her mother Lise, was a very young girl with little means to take care of herself much less her baby. Unable to buy formula to keep her daughter alive, Lise was forced to nurse her baby, even though she was knowingly HIV+.

Just because it is not always sunny does not mean it is not a good day for the beach!
Loading Up the Car
Wednesday we took 4 of our kids on a little beach field trip! We loaded Yakime, Luckson, Kettia, and Amawanda in the car, and off we went. As you can see, it was not the sunniest of days so we stayed out of the water but the kids had a ball anyway. WeCanBuildanOrphanage is great, but a change of scenery does wonders for perking everyone up.
Beach Fun!
Rent Due For the Year!!!
Well it is that time again for us in Haiti, our rent for the year is due….yikes! We need your help, any donation gets us closer to our goal of $6000, and is very appreciated.
Rent Fundraiser
Thanks to Stephen Bisse’s generous repeat donation of $1000 through our recent rent campaign on Facebook, we only have $5000 left to reach our fundraising goal.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help our kids:) Be sure to take a moment and check out our Facebook cause page.

Sylvaince
It is our belief at WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com that the more heads we can put together to create a greater impact the better. After all, it is about helping as many people as possible any way we can. This week we began to make strides in that direction by reaching out and beginning a dialogue that will start to open the lines of communications among a few no-profit organizations in Haiti.

Do you remember the first child we told you about? Well, it was her birthday last week. On June 3rd we threw a small party for Youseline, and it was a blast. She turned 8 years old and everyone gathered around the big table to celebrate and eat cake, which is a fun treat for all the kids:)!
Youseline’s Birthday Wish
Happy Birthday Youseline!

We wanted to take a moment to welcome our new Psychologist Wilky Sanon.
Wilky Sanon working with Youseline, Estania and Luckson
As you may have guessed or actually know from our past stories, many of our children that did not come to us as babies had quite a traumatic life before they came to live at WeCanBuildanOrphanage.com. It is very important that we make sure we do everything in our power to provide our kids with as much support as possible, and thanks to Wilky Sanon we will be providing them with even more support. Through art and other therapeutic activities Wilky Sanon will help our children express their feelings and grow to be healthier adults.
Name: Amawanda
In our care since: October 27, 2007
Birthday: January 21, 2006
Status: HIV negative, severely malnourished
Amawanda was the third child to come live in our orphanage. She was born on January 21st, 2006 in Macary, Marigot. Her mother passed away for unknown reasons and her father had never played any part in her life. Given that for all intent Amawanda had no father after her mother’s death, Amawanda was left in the care of her uncle.
